There are variety of plants that have a culinary role as vegetables in Sri Lanka. Vegetables can be used in several senses, including culinary and botanical.

Vegetables include botanical fruits such as pumpkins, and does not include herbs, spices, cereals and most culinary fruits and culinary nuts.

Sri Lankan Vegetables such as tomatoes, which are a botanical berry, but also a culinary vegetable and even tomato sauce as found on pizza, which is considered a vegetable. We have variety of vegetable and names of them can be found somewhere else in this website.
